The Qualities of an Effective Tutor of Arabic for non – Native Speakers

Abstract

This study aims to identify the essential characteristics of a successful tutor in teaching Arabic to nonnative speakers, given the tutor’s central role in facilitating effective language acquisition. The research explores the theoretical background of Arabic tutor, his role, and the necessary qualities (personal and professional ). The researchers adopted the descriptive analytical method, and the sample consisted of tutors of Arabic to non-native speakers in selected educational institutions in Kumasi. Data were collected using a questionnaire developed for this purpose. The findings revealed that a successful teacher is not only proficient in the language but also equipped with educational and cultural competencies that enable effective interaction with diverse learners, thereby enhancing student outcomes and integration
