Abstract

Al-Hajwi is considered the first defender of women's right to education during a closed period when women were deprived of schooling. His writings included significant psychological insights that educational psychologists still emphasize today, regarding the nature of male and female learners and their differing potential and needs. These insights were part of the specific characteristics of the female educational system he advocated for, which involve three main levels: educational objectives, programs, and scope. Using descriptive and analytical methods, the research identifies these characteristics and their psychological and social backgrounds. Key findings suggest that mixed-gender schools might hinder achievement for girls due to gender-based differences in psychological, mental, and behavioral levels. Al-Hajwi believed effective education for girls should contribute to improving the community's economic and social conditions. Based on these findings, the researcher recommends that curriculum planners consider women's social roles and biological/psychological characteristics during the planning phase.
